The Fall 2025 semester marked my 20th year teaching COM 570 (Media Law) at Pepperdine. It was also my last semester teaching at Pepperdine.
In those 20 years, I have taught almost 1000 students. They will all make a positive impact on the world, and several will be household names. It has been a privilege to be part of the process.
When I told my class that this semester would be my last, three students immediately said, “We need to have a party!” They brought a cake to the last class and sang “Happy Last Day to you.” That gesture reinforced just how special Pepperdine students are.
The final exam was the following Monday. For the first time in my 20 years of teaching, a student brought me an apple.
